As a Californian even facing a question theoretically between California Independence as a Nation and California remaining a US state there’s a very real question that needs to be asked.
What kind of future does the USA have and what’s in it for California?
I mean honestly, you’d have to be politically asleep to be unaware that the so-called red vs blue divisions in the United States are now rigid factional battle lines after red America defeated blue America, and the country devolved into MAGA dictatorship and Christo Fascism.
And to make the prospects of America’s future worse, the question most of the Democratic party faithful across the rest of the US are struggling with isn’t “what are they going to do about it?”
No… The painfully obvious DNC plan revolves around pinning their hopes on political norms that probably no longer exist, waiting it out until future possible elections, and blame-throwing while hoping for the best, or just get through it?
Of course, the problems with that plan of inaction are pretty obvious… The pain, suffering and damage being done in the meantime will be catastrophic!
But let’s face it, as Californians, we can already recognize that true opposition to the MAGA future won’t come from Washington DC.
Because any real fight against a fascist America that the Democratic party might consider, has already been auto-castrated by a DNC shackled to the Clintonite centrist lust for mainstream corporate cash flow…
Creating little hope for more than what we have right now, a California Republic trapped in a status quo USA where the best possible outcome is unstable gridlock with barely differentiated choices, in a supposedly good oligarchy vs bad oligarchy American future…
And worse, this political greed has not only caused the Democratic party nationally to ignore the possibility of coalition building with any third-party opposition to the MAGA regime.
In fact, the Democratic Party has outright dismissed and gone radio silent on the resistance from the political left at state and local levels within the Democratic party to avoid the loss of their corporate donor base and MSNBC contributor status?… Really?
So, is this the best America can do? The political equivalent of sticking it’s fingers in it’s ears and singing “lalala” while hoping the MAGA fascist boogiemen will eventually go away?
Because the DNC has tried doing nothing and now, they’re all out of options?
Except of course morbidly using the death of American democracy as a fund-raising scheme…
“We can take back the house if you just send the Joe Schmoe campaign in New Jersey 20 dollars!”
Which brings us back to our Talking Point…
What kind of future does the USA have and what’s in it for California?
Because hey, sorry to burst your bubble here but that whole “ask not what your country can do for you” bullshit was over half a century ago…
Today, in the twenty first century, as Californians chained to a barely recognizable USA with a dying democracy… it’s more like we have to ask, “what is a hostile MAGA America going to do to us next?”
In today’s America, 40 million Californians have the world’s 5th largest, global powerhouse economy but we have zero freedom to avoid suffering the grievance driven agenda of unevolved MAGA fools and uncaringly spineless Democrats, an untouchable 3000 miles away?
Seriously? Because that’s where we’re at… enduring lives within the smothering confines of an out of date collapsing US empire and stuck with an arbitrary yet utterly polarized, two-party American capitalist system Californians have long outgrown.
A purposely broken system where even the free speech symbolic dissenting gestures of marches, rallies, and protests, are on the verge of extinction under new legal definitions for America’s cultural greatness.
So, for Californians, instead of plotting our own course on the global stage we’re forced to live through a socio-political blitzkrieg of ultra-right-wing attacks where US statehood has left us fighting for our own California Values with both hands tied behind our representative backs.
And if that unadulterated truth isn’t enough to make you finally open your eyes to the idea that “win or lose” the ultimate resistance to US fascism is Californian independence.
Again, I’ll ask you… What kind of future does the USA have and what’s in it for California?
Because even if or when American Fascism is finally defeated and the MAGA regime collapses what then?…
I mean, News Flash! In case you’ve forgotten, historically speaking, oppressive political regimes generally don’t go away quietly… They usually require some form of uprising in a civil or even world war to end them.
Nothing there is good for Californians.
And even if those spineless “wait it out” and “just get through it” Democrats are right and the MAGA regime collapse on its own over the next few election cycles, what then?
Should Californians be happy to have an entire generation of Californians living under years of the oppression suffering the vagaries of modern American fascism?
Should Californians be happy waiting until possibly the middle of the 21st century for America just to get back to the same old gridlocked red state/blue state status quo with no universal healthcare, a bloated military, a “drill baby drill” climate policy, and constitutionally rigged non-representative democracy?
Do Californians really want to embrace all that societal anxiety, fear, and hate, that generation after generations of Americans still have seething just under the surface in the un-evolved red states.
What’s the appeal for Californians of living in a nation where over half of our fellow countrymen have already proven twice that they have no problem legally throwing progressive Californians under the bus for their Christo superstitious, white supremist, and culturally bigoted world view.
And that’s obviously the best-case scenario Californians can look forward to if the DNC and their corporate media approved plan of waiting the trump regime out, winning in future of possible elections that may or may not happen, and hoping for the best actually works.
So yeah… From a California Independence Movement point of view, for those people out there who maybe just out of force of habit aren’t on board with a free and Independent California but are still talking about fighting to save America, trust me… I’m not feeling it.
So, I’m going to need YOU to answer that question…
What kind of future does the USA have and what’s in it for California?
